Martial Arts for the Modern World

About Ronin Martial Arts

A Long List of Benefits

A Survival Sport for the Modern Kid

In a world where cyberbullying, body shaming, and bullying are all too common, martial arts stand out as the ultimate "Kids Survival Sport." It’s not just about self defense; it’s about building the inner strength, confidence, and smarts to face tough situations

head-on.

Self Defense Skills

Our programs equip children with vital self defense techniques, fostering safety and confidence that extend beyond the dojo. These are essential skills in today’s world, providing not just protection but peace of mind.

Staying Fit and Healthy

Martial arts is an exhilarating way to keep children active and healthy. It pulls them away from sedentary habits, boosting their physical fitness and self-esteem through dynamic, fun-filled classes.

Bully-Proof Confidence

We empower our students to stand firm against bullying. Through martial arts, they gain the confidence to face bullies fearlessly, ensuring they remain unshaken in their values and self-worth.

Fighting Online Negativity

In today's digital age, it's crucial to arm kids with the resilience to withstand online negativity. Our classes promote self-love and the courage to stay true to oneself amidst the challenges of the internet.

The "Quest to Be Our Best"

At RONIN Martial Arts, we understand that the challenges facing today's youth are unique and often daunting. That's why we've dedicated ourselves to creating a nurturing and empowering environment where our students can thrive.

We are committed to maintaining a professional environment with a family feel and delivering a quality program that is both practical and dynamic.

Our mission is to empower our students with the skills necessary to face all manners of adversity and threats in the world. We do this by sharpening the mind, strengthening the body, and fortifying the spirit.

At RONIN, we do things a little differently. All we ask is that our students show up prepared to work hard, learn, and have fun. We'll handle the rest.

We believe that martial arts is a personal journey and tailor our coaching to the individual. Private instruction is also available.

    FAQ's

    How much does it cost?

We have a variety of programs to fit every student's needs and budget. Depending upon the length of the program and rate of attendance the investment averages $15 per class with discounts for additional family members.

NO Testing Fees or hidden charges.

Do I have to be in shape to begin taking classes?

Everyone is welcome to train regardless of fitness level. We tailor every class to the ability and age of our students to make sure each participant is challenged but that no one is left behind. Many new students can't believe the transformation they experience in a few short months.

Can I try a class before I sign up?

Yes. Introductory programs are available as a "No Risk" way to ensure our dojo is a good fit for you and/ or your child. We focus on excellent instruction, responsible advancement of our students and a positive experience and don't wish for anyone to feel stuck in a situation that isn't beneficial for everyone.

Are injuries common in martial arts class?

Risk is always present in contact sports therefore we mandate the use of the latest in protective gear and all interactions are closely monitored by our trained staff.

Also, according to Johns Hopkins Medical reports, martial arts presents much lower rates of injury compared to other popular sports.

Will martial arts make my child violent?

Quite the opposite. We emphasize that martial arts is for self defense only and reinforce that practice is only acceptable at home and on the mat. All students are made aware that any inappropriate use of their skills may result in punitive action such as taking their belt away temporarily or expulsion from the program in drastic cases. Parents will find that trained martial artists respect and appreciate the use of force and use proper judgment related to their knowledge.

How long does it take to become a Black Belt?

RONIN students attending regularly 3x per week and practicing at home can expect to progress through our belt system at around the following pace:

       White to Yellow 1-2 months
       Yellow to Orange 2-3 months
       Orange to Purple 2-3 months
       Purple to Blue 3-4 months
       Blue to Green 3-4 months
       Green to Brown 4-5 months
       Brown to Red 4-5 months
Red to High Red 4-5 months
High Red to Pre Black 6-8 months
Pre Black to Black Belt Graduation 3-6 months

Students earn 3 black stripes on their belt between levels based on their demonstrated skill level, attendance, and grasp of the material.

There are no Pass or Fail experiences at graduation ceremonies with the exception of refusal to participate. Public, private and "in-class" grading are all options (for all ages up to Black Belt). Promotion is by invitation only and the timing may vary at the discretion of the RONIN staff to either allow a student additional time to absorb certain concepts or to reward someone who has demonstrated extra hard work or a rapid grasp of the material.
